Women in Construction Week 2025 | Pam Pires

Preston Companies is participating in Women in Construction (WIC) Week by showcasing some of the powerhouse women at Preston.

Women in Construction Week celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry. Started by NAWIC (The National Association of Women in Construction), the first WIC Week began in 1998 and has grown and expanded each year since.

Today, Preston’s employee resource group POWER (Preston Opportunities for Women to Excel and Rise) would like to highlight Monitor/Testing Coordinator Pam Pires.

Tell us about your role and background at Preston.

My title states COVID-19 Monitor/Testing Coordinator. I work remotely from my home office in Milpitas. As COVID-19 tracking needs changed, my role developed in several directions. I primarily assist Safety Director David Ristedt and our Bay Area and Sacramento Safety Managers in HCSS filing and tracking of all field trainings, including all online trainings. I help project managers with certifications for our field employees. I also work with the DMV pull notice program to track all employee driving eligibility and I assist our Human Resources department in keeping our records updated.

How long have you worked at Preston? How long have you worked in the construction industry?

I will have worked for Preston for 5 years this May and have spent 11 years working in construction overall.

How have you seen the company culture change over the years (if it at all)?

I feel the company culture obviously changes as the years progress due to leadership transitions and technology advances towards training and development as the company grows, but I feel the company’s values, beliefs, and purpose have continued to stay consistent and strong.

How would you feel if your daughter (or granddaughter) wanted to join the construction industry?

I would definitely support my daughter or granddaughter in entering the construction industry. It has been a great choice for me and I feel blessed to be a part of the team.
