Women in Construction Week 2025 | Nicci Guzzetta
Preston Companies is participating in Women in Construction (WIC) Week by showcasing some of the powerhouse women at Preston.
Women in Construction Week celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry. Started by NAWIC (The National Association of Women in Construction), the first WIC Week began in 1998 and has grown and expanded each year since.
Today, Preston’s employee resource group POWER (Preston Opportunities for Women to Excel and Rise) would like to highlight Senior Project Engineer Nicci Guzzetta.
Tell us about your role and background at Preston.
I am a Senior Project Engineer in the Milpitas office. I’ve been with Preston for about 2.5 years and I’ve been in the industry for not much longer than I have worked at Preston. My dad runs a residential construction company, so I grew up around that.
Explain what a Project Engineer does, and what you feel is the most vital aspect you provide to ensure a successful project.
I think the best way to describe a Project Engineer’s job is that they are the link between the office and the field. I feel the most vital part of my job is supporting the field and ensuring that they are able to do their jobs efficiently and smoothly.
You have proven yourself to be one of the most valuable project engineers in the company. Do you have any advice for project engineers that are just starting out? Have you yourself had any role models to look up to?
Always be willing to keep learning and continue to ask questions. I feel like every day I am learning something new, which always helps me continue to improve at my job. I am very grateful for all the people that have helped me learn and grow at this company. There are so many smart and talented people here.
