Preston Companies is participating in Women in Construction (WIC) Week by showcasing some of the powerhouse women at Preston.

Women in Construction Week celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry. Started by NAWIC (The National Association of Women in Construction), the first WIC Week began in 1998 and has grown and expanded each year since.

Today, Preston’s employee resource group POWER (Preston Opportunities for Women to Excel and Rise) would like to highlight Project Engineer Angela Gonzalez.

Tell us about your role and background at Preston.

I’m a Project Engineer based in the Alameda office in San Jose. I’ve been with Preston Pipelines for 1.5 years, transitioning into the construction industry when I joined the company.

As President of Preston’s employee resource group POWER, has your leadership role in POWER been a burden or a reward? Do you think getting involved with POWER has improved your experience working at Preston?

Being in a leadership position within POWER has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It has given me the opportunity to connect with and support other women in the company. I’ve had the opportunity to build strong relationships across all our offices and found a true sense of community. It’s uplifting to know there’s a network of people, both women and men, who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences to help each other grow. Being involved has made my time at Preston even more meaningful.

What are your goals this year for POWER? What changes (if any) do you hope to see?

My goal is to ensure that every person in this group knows they matter and that their contributions are valued. We’ve been fortunate to have strong support from our company across the board, and I hope to continue fostering a culture where women feel empowered, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
