In celebration of Women in Construction Week, we’re highlighting some of our powerful Preston women to gain some insight into how they began their careers in the construction industry and what they’ve learned along the way.

Let us introduce you to Project Engineer Nicci Guzzetta. Nicci studied Biochemistry at San Jose State University and joined Preston in 2022.

What inspired you to pursue a career in construction?

I grew up in construction! My dad has a construction company so it has always been a part of my life.

What makes you continue to work in the industry?

I continue to work in the industry because the work challenges me and excites me.

What is your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part is getting to see what we are building and interacting with so many different people.

What advice would you give to a woman who is considering a career in the construction industry?

My advice would be to find someone you trust who can help you and give you advice. There are a lot of stressful days in construction, and it can be helpful to have someone to talk to.

What does the 2023 International Women’s Day campaign theme #EmbraceEquity mean to you?

To me, #EmbraceEquity means that we should all be on the same playing field and have equal opportunities.
