Our San Mateo Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion project included exporting clean soil of approximately 50,000 CY generated from the construction. The proposed facility included an administration building, a laboratory facility, and a headworks facility and involved an excavation depth of 11ft over 3 acres. During the initial review, DirtMarket found multiple areas of contamination without a clear clean-soil boundary. We prepared a site specific sampling plan to further delineate the contaminated soil from the potential clean soil and provided a cost effective export solution at a local clean fill site. Through additional sampling with our Direct Push Drill sampling crew, the contaminated soil was minimized and exported to an appropriate landfill site, while the clean soil was documented, approved, and off-hauled to a more cost effective clean fill site.
